Appointments

Appointments System

We have now changed how we make appointments for future bookings to ensure we are prepared and you are protected.

You will now ALWAYS be telephoned by a Clinician BEFORE your appointment is booked at the surgery and we will be using telephone and video consultations more frequently.

appointment

We endeavour to address all your medical concerns in your appointment.

We do not adopt a “1 problem only” policy. We will address all of your medical concerns on the day but please do respect our appointments are 10 mins long.

Please book a double appointment or 2 separate appointments, as you feel necessary.

If you wish to see a doctor or other member of staff for treatment or advice, please telephone or call to make an appointment. It is very helpful if you give the receptionist some information about your needs so that she can allocate an appropriate amount of time for your appointment.

For all routine telephone/video consultations please contact the surgery between 10:00 and 12:00 each day.

For on the day telephone consultation appointments please call the surgery at 08:15 Monday - Wednesday where you will be offered a time slot for the doctor to call you back.

We keep a number of appointments free at each consultation time for sudden illness - urgent cases will be seen the same day.

If you need to see the doctor urgently, please explain this when you call or telephone the surgery.

For emergency on the day appointments please call the surgery at 08:15 Monday - Friday or at 15:30 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday.

Home Visits

If possible please try to telephone reception before 10:30 if you require a home visit.

A doctor or nurse may phone you back as it may be that your problem can be dealt with by telephone advice, or that it would be more appropriate to send a nurse, or indeed arrange a hospital attendance.

House visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability.

Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the surgery.

The doctor who visits you may not always be your own GP.

Chaperone Policy

This Practice is committed to providing a safe and comfortable environment where patients and staff can be confident that best practice is being  followed at all times.

All patients are entitled to have a chaperone present for any consultation, examination or procedure with either a Doctor or Nurse where they feel one is required.

Wherever possible we would ask you to make this request at the time of booking your appointment so that arrangements can be made and your appointment is not delayed in any way. Where this is not possible we will endeavour to provide a formal chaperone at the the time of request. However, occasionally it may be necessary to reschedule your appointment.

Your healthcare professional may also require a chaperone to be present for certain consultations in accordance with our chaperone policy.

If you would like to see a copy of our chaperone policy or have any questions or comments regarding this please contact the Practice Manager.

Interpreter

If you require an interpreter to attend with you when you see your Doctor please notify the receptionist and she will arrange this for you.

Cancel an Appointment

It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.

You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance. (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.

GP Training

At varying times throughout the year, we may have Medical Students with us so that they may gain first hand experience of General practice.

If we do have any students at the time you are being seen, you will be advised of this in advance and you will of course be able to decline their presence at the consultation if you so wish.
